Last night, at the Magnetic Island RSL hall, about thirty residents attended the MI Community Development Association Annual General Meeting, in which Association President, Lorna Hempstead, presented her President's Report. Following is an edited version of that report.

Quiz night another big hit
With over 170 Islanders filling the Magnetic Island Country Club for a big night of trivia and the chance to rub shoulders with friends, neighbours and wider members of the community, the simplest way to describe Friday's Maggie Quiz Night, sponsored by Queensland Health and organised by the Community Development Association, was, a great big fun night out with the community.

If you are a Magnetic Island teenager then the NSW Variety Club, part of the World's largest Children's Charity, wants to hear from you very soon. They are headed this way for a "Magnetic Island Bash" in July and want to make a gift of some kind that Magnetic Island teenagers in particular can share and enjoy. Only problem is, they don't know what Island teenagers would like and they need to know fast.

It's 14 years since I last visited Maggy. I am shocked by Nelly Bay and saddened. It is insensitive, ugly and juxtaposed to the essence of Maggy. I embrace progress in general, but this is poorly conceived and executed. Shame.
