'Cafe de Flore' this Saturday

"I would love to see this again. It absolutely shook me to my core," was ABC TV's, At the Movies reviewer, Margaret Pomeranz's, response to this week's, Magnetic Island Film Society offering, 'Cafe de Flore', to be screened at the RSL Hall in Arcadia on Saturday night.

Margaret continued, "I think those scenes in Paris in 1969 with the Downs Syndrome child - Vanessa Paradis is just amazing. I thought they were mother and son, the relationship between them is so fabulously realised and it is about that intense, possessive love, in both areas. The contemporary era and way back then, this love she has for her son. The soul mate connection that Carole believes is the thing in her life that was going to last forever and I think the film is about learning to let go and it is tragic butů"

Syl Hayes In reply to Fair raises $15,000 for school
What a wonderful outcome for the school! I had a great time face-painting with Luke and Sasha, met lots of kids and parents, scored some great books at the Trash n Treasure stall, and even remembered to vote. Everywhere you looked people were enjoying themselves...such a tribute to the organisers. Well done!
