Our new masthead
Eight years ago Magnetic Times went online to become the very first news website in north Queensland. In that time we have produced literally thousands of stories for and about Magnetic Island. But, in all that time, what was intended as a temporary masthead sat above our news. Today we have moved on.
We hope you like our new masthead with its distinctively Magnetic land/seascape and net-savvy Maggie, our very well-read koala. She has evolved a bit from a promotional tee-shirt I drew back in the days of ink and paper. She's traded in her old paper for a little laptop and, with e-paper and lightweight e-books beginning to emerge she's likely to upgrade too. But for now a lappy and a sweet leaf make her very content.
In the next few weeks there will be some more changes. With the help of our webmaster and e-wizard, Valberg Larusson, we will soon have an events calendar that approved (just ask) event makers will be able to add their events to as soon as they know the dates. There is more too but that's another story.
And because we are endlessly amazed at how magnetictimes.com reaches the rest of the world and the many reconnections - often between long-lost family members and friends - who contact us first and, because so many people who live interstate or internationally are in touch with us, it seemed appropriate that the 15,000 readers we attract each month should be acknowledged. So here's to you amazing people, wherever you are. We hope you will, with Maggie, continue to enjoy your Magnetic Times.
