A young koala's beach adventure

A young koala's adventure at Geoffrey Bay

A koala's adventure It's hard to imagine anything much cuter than a young koala's adventure on a Magnetic Island beach. Some years ago we witnessed this little drama and, from a respectful distance, managed to capture the moments as they happened. Even better we were able to record the koala's thoughts on the matter. Really!

Magnetic Times shares this story in the light of the ever growing threat to koalas across Australia. About 8 weeks ago the koala was listed as "vulnerable" in Queensland, NSW and ACT. But, according to Alex Harris, a koala campaigner, who has developed an amazing new website: "vulnerable" doesn't come close to it!

Now, because our software is a little old and creaky we have moved the adventure to our facebook page (click here) where you can follow the adventure of our young koala, frame by frame, thought by thought.

We are also planning to make a series of gift cards based on the pictures so let us know which you "Like" best.

Enjoy, but take a look at Koala Tracker (
click here) which is a fantastic tool for communities all across Australia to record koala sightings and measure their numbers as well as the obvious threats which face them.

Poor fellow looks so lonely, just as well he (is he a she) is not too acutely intelligent, it might get to him his social isolation.

Syl Hayes In reply to Fair raises $15,000 for school
What a wonderful outcome for the school! I had a great time face-painting with Luke and Sasha, met lots of kids and parents, scored some great books at the Trash n Treasure stall, and even remembered to vote. Everywhere you looked people were enjoying themselves...such a tribute to the organisers. Well done!
