Get ready for Tourism Magnetic Island

Mr Colin Foley calling for a LTO On Monday evening about 20 local business people met at Peppers Conference room to start "Tourism Magnetic Island". The informal meeting was called by Mr Col Foley, a mortgage broker from Nelly Bay, who has put out an emailed circular in which he thanked those who attended, writing, "I felt very much encouraged by the attendance and the attitude of all in our assembly."

Col Foley wasn't sure if TMI was going to become a formal organisation into the future or not. "There's lots of get-to-know-you and bonding to be done. I expect it to become strong but whether it is unorthodox is up to the members.

"I'm only trying to see it into existence." says Col Foley.

Col Foley writes in the circular, "It was, of course, an informal meeting, but, for the record and information of those absent, the following major points were decided:

As an owner of a property on Magnetic we have been waiting a long time for this to happen. It is such a unique and beautiful place with so much that could be done in an environmentally friendly way. Good luck with this initiative.

What a wonderful outcome for the school! I had a great time face-painting with Luke and Sasha, met lots of kids and parents,scored some great books at the Trash n Treasure stall, and even remembered to vote. Everywhere you looked people were enjoying themselves...such a tribute to the organisers. Well done!
