Horseshoe hill accident driver dies in hospital

The green moke at MI Police yard The man involved in the car accident on Horseshoe Bay hill road last night died in Townsville Hospital later in the night. His name was Eric Christopher Levick, aged 31 from Ipswich.

Mr Levick was accompainied in the accident by a 41 year old woman, also from Ipswich, whose name is yet to be made public. She remains in Townsville hospital in a stable condition.

Magnetic Island Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the accident (read story here) in which Mr Levick's green hire moke ran up a steep embankment between Curlew Flats and the Radical Bay road turn-off.

Magnetic Island Police Constable Brendan Nugent told Magnetic Times that he believed it was unlikely that a blood sample was taken from Mr Levick to determine whether he had been drinking alcohol. "I suspect a blood test was unlikely while they were fighting to save lives," he said.

Constable Nugent is however keen to hear from anybody who saw the moke, which had "Robin Hood" printed on its bonnet, yesterday afternoon. MI Police can be contacted on 4778 5270.
