Crocs seen at Island school

Crocs at the MI State School Four Townsville McDonald's Crocodiles basketball players visited Magnetic Island State School today as part of a partnership with Sunferries intended to encourage Islanders to visit town for social activities including including Crocs games.

"The clinics are less skills based. The more fun and interaction the kids have we think the more involved they will become in basketball," said Mili Simic, Crocs' Media Marketing Manager Mili Simic, who added, "We are trying to get here once a year but with season schedules it is difficult,"

"Sunferries is committed to providing convenient transport services for residents to enjoy a variety of social activities on the mainland and our increased services enable Magnetic Island residents to get there and back easily, making it easier than ever to attend Crocs home games this season" Sunferries Sales & Marketing Manager Julie Caspani said.

"We're also excited about providing opportunities to the Magnetic Island community by assisting the Crocs with conducting their Youth Hoops Clinics on the island" she added.

"Through the partnership with Sunferries, the Crocs will be conducting Youth Hoops Clinics later this year on the Island. It'll be great getting our players on to the Island and promoting the sport of basketball to the community there" Townsville McDonald's Crocodiles Sales & Sponsorship Manager Jason Trim said.

"We're looking forward to the Magnetic Island community taking advantage of how easy it is to attend a Crocs game this season. With the ferry terminal right next to the Townsville Entertainment & Convention Centre and the increased number of services to Magnetic Island, we're looking forward to a large number of fans from the Island attending games this season" he added.

Great to see the Crock here at the school - The kids were certainly pretty excited. It strikes me though that Sunferries is trying a little too hard to impress (perhaps 'cause of readers exchange here about fare increases).

From what I can see, Sunferries contribution to the Island in this case is 3 adult return fares foregone - assuming they didn't simply offer a discounted fare as they do with Island groups they "sponsor"!

What a wonderful outcome for the school! I had a great time face-painting with Luke and Sasha, met lots of kids and parents, scored some great books at the Trash n Treasure stall, and even remembered to vote. Everywhere you looked people were enjoying themselves...such a tribute to the organisers. Well done!
