If you have ever attended a market or a meeting or a Musos Club at the RSL Hall in Arcadia then you would appreciate that RSL volunteers and members were probably on hand to make it possible. This Saturday they are hoping you might be able to make something possible for them.
The RSL is set to make a big improvement to the grounds where the ANZAC Day breakfast and the Friday night markets are held by laying new turf. But in hot weather and with a fair few ageing backs the job will need as many hands on deck as possible.
If you can help with the work your presence will be really appreciated early (6am to avoid the heat) on Saturday morning to join the work party at the Hall on Hayles Avenue in Arcadia.
The work is planned to be completed by 9am but, according to the RSL's Peter Safe, "If we have enough volunteers we can also finish the shed installation".
This job will not interfere with most people's Saturday - being completed so early - so why not help the RSL to improve its grounds and services that most Islanders benefit from sooner or later.

My wife and I regularly attend both Saturday morning and Friday night markets when we are on the Island and have enjoyed many a pleasant meal accompanied by wine from the RSL. I would be only too happy to help with laying turf if I could but its a long way from Canberra to Magnetic. We could do with some of your heat right now as Winter has returned to S.E Australia with freezing temperatures. Oliver Howie, Aranda ACT
Thanks for the plug on the work party George. The RSL would like to thank all those members of the community who have helped in the ground preperation and the laying of the turf. Your efforts were very much appreciated and we look forward to seeing you there enjoying the fruits of your labour. Thank You
